EIHAB Human Services Appoints New Executive Director and Chief Executive Officer

SPRINGFIELD GARDENS, NEW YORK, Monday, October 12, 2021- East Coast nonprofit EIHAB Human Services has named Hamdy Elgindy as its new Executive Director, and Joshua Thomas has been appointed Chief Executive Officer of EIHAB New Jersey, effective immediately. Mr. Elgindy and Mr. Thomas led EIHAB as Interim Co-CEOs from October 2020 through July 2021, in addition to their roles as Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operating Officer, respectively.


As Executive Director of the human services agency, Mr. Elgindy will oversee operations at EIHAB’s New York and Pennsylvania offices, while Mr. Thomas will lead the agency at its Howell, New Jersey location. Together, both men will ensure the continuation of vital programs and services to enhance the lives of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.


With approximately 30 years of experience in the human services field, Mr. Elgindy brings extensive knowledge of finance, accounting, and compliance. While serving as EIHAB’s Chief Financial Officer, he successfully implemented and oversaw all fiscal activities to align with programmatic goals and compliance with government regulations. Mr. Elgindy was also responsible for overseeing audits, monitoring internal controls, managing agency budgets, and much more. Prior to joining EIHAB in 2011, Mr. Elgindy led a distinguished 17-year career at Unique People Services (UPS), rising up the ranks to become Chief Financial Officer of the Bronx nonprofit in 2008.

In his new role as CEO of EIHAB New Jersey, Mr. Thomas brings nearly two decades of experience in Human Services. While serving as EIHAB’s Chief Operating Officer, he worked tirelessly overseeing operations at all three EIHAB locations to ensure every program functioned seamlessly, including exemplary Day Habilitation programs, Residential Services, and Family Support Services. His rich history with the agency includes prior leadership roles serving as Director of Residential Services, Director of Operations, and Vice President of EIHAB. Mr. Thomas’ extraordinary leadership has also been instrumental in the opening of many group homes, enabling EIHAB to expand its reach in the community while providing additional opportunities for individuals to thrive.
